Notice of Annual General Meetings

The 2020 AGM will be held in May 2020.  The date, time, place, and supporting documentation will be posted here in early 2020.

2019 - Special General Meeting

A Special General Meeting was held on 11 July 2019 to amend the 2019/2020 budget that had previously been approved at the 2019 AGM.  The purpose of the amendment was to permit the purchase of a new motor for the Miss L. A. boat, an expenditure not anticipated at the time of the AGM.  The Resolution to amend the budget was passed unanimously.

The 2019 Annual General Meeting took place on 23 May 2019 in Brunton Hall, Beckwith Municipal Offices.  The guest speaker was Sally McIntyre, General Manager of MVCA.

The 2018 Annual General Meeting took place on Thursday, 24 May 2018 in Brunton Hall, Beckwith Municipal Offices.  The guest speaker was Constable Gregory Wills, OPP.

The 2017 Annual General Meeting took place on Thursday, 18 May 2017, at Brunton Hall, Beckwith Municipal offices.  A new By-law was approved by Special Resolution.  The guest speaker was Chloe Lajoie from Watersheds Canada, who talked about Natural Edge, a shoreline naturalization program, as a follow-on to the Love Your Lake program.

A Pre-AGM Information Session was held on Thursday April 27th, 2017, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm, to afford an opportunity to learn about proposed by-law changes and to preview the 2017-2018 Budget.  Unfortunately, turnout was discouraging as a total of only twelve members attended.

Date / Time of AGMs

Traditionally, the MLA has held its Annual General Meeting on the last Saturday in May.  However, Saturday mornings are particularly precious at this time of year for cottagers and full-time lake residents, so a different time slot was chosen to hopefully increase the availability of members.  For 2017, the Annual General Meeting and a special pre-AGM information session were scheduled on Thursday evenings.

Feedback from the attendees at the 2017 AGM indicate that the Thursday evening period was a suitable alternative to the Saturday forenoon slot. There was not a significant difference in the number of attendees from previous years, however it is hoped that the Thursday period will prove to be a more convenient time for Members and that a greater numer will attend future AGMs.
