Mississippi Lakes Association Goes Social

These days when you hear the word ‘social’ it’s always assumed to mean some kind of online app that has to do with electronic media. Rarely does it involve face to face human contact. The MLA wants to change that. Sure, we published a lake plan, ran an extensive shoreline improvement program, we sample water quality every year, install cautionary marker buoys in the lake every summer (since 1944!), and created an all-new website and e-newsletter....  BUT, now we want to get social. Really social!

The Association should be all about people sharing ideas on how we can all work together to make the lake community experience  safe and enjoyable.  We bet you have grear ideas about how we can do this.  Why don’t you share them with us?  Are you interested in getting involved? Reach us at We are waiting to hear from you!

Canada 150 Celebrations in our Community

In 2017, we celebrate Canada's 150th anniversary of confederation. Download the 2017 Calendar of Events to see what's happening in our local community.

Keep watching this page for featured events, as they are announced.  Do you have a great idea for a lake community event celebrating Canada's 150th?  Send us an email and tell us about it.

Around Mississippi Lake there are many Private Road Associations who maintain their access roads and organize community and social events during the cottage season.  Annual General Meetings, pot luck suppers and mini-regattas bring residents together to socialize and celebrate our lake lifestyle.  If your Association has a forthcoming event, drop us a line and we'll post it here.

Drop in to the Carleton Place-Beckwith Heritage Museum at 267 Edmund Street, Carleton Place, where you will see exhibits depicting the early days of Carleton Place and Beckwith.  Check the museum's web site for details and hours:
